We are excited to announce that school supplies will be provided again next year for the 2021-2022 school year. 

About KES

Konawaena Elementary is a Pre K-5 school in central Kona on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi with just under 600 students.   Established in 1899 on the site that is now the Kealakekua Library, KES moved in 1922 to the 12 acre campus that now houses the Middle and High Schools.  We moved into our current campus in 2000.

Summer Start Kindergarten Transition Program 2021

What: A free three-week classroom experience that focuses on student behaviors and school routines. 
Who: Incoming Kindergarten students with little or no preschool experience. *Program will be capped at 40 students (students with preschool experience can be put on a wait list and enrolled if spots are available) 
Why: To increase students confidence and foster a sense of independence as well as prepare them with the necessary skills to be successful on the first day of school and throughout the year. 
When: Weekdays June 24-July 15 8:00am -11:30am
